The Genetics of hairfall
One of the most concerning problem of today’s teenagers and men in general is definitely not the falling economy or the rising rates of internet data but Hair Fall and Hair Loss. I am definitely not joking, but it is the reality in everybody’s home. You are only 25 and have begun to lose your hair, you will find all the herbs from Amazon forest made into an oil back in your home.
For a long time I have been asked by many people to write an article on Hairfall and the reasons behind it. Genetics, environment and psychological problems play a major role in the hair fall of teenagers and men.
Before you all get so concerned, please remember that everyone will lose hair regularly and naturally, and the new hair grows. The problem occurs only when the hair fails to re-grow and in this article you will find convincing reasons about hairfall and why to you.
Androgenic Alopecia, the scientific condition for hair loss or hair fall describes the condition as male pattern baldness. It is called so as the men are more prone to hair loss than the women. The hair loss starts with receding hair line slowly progressing to the crown. Don’t worry it all takes quite some time when finally you will be bald, but there are also people who lose all their hair suddenly in five quick years or less.
According to the statistical reports, one in two men at the age of 50 are bald and many go hairless. To be very frank, there is nothing much you can do about it. There is no cure and no hope in spite of all the so-called herbal hair, hair transplant and therapies. Better start saving your money you spend on your hair and instead feel the good company around you.
As already mentioned, each single strand of hair falls out naturally after 3-5 years (life cycle of hair growth) and is replaced by a new strand of hair. While due to Androgenic alopecia, the hair follicle (the hole from which hair grows) becomes smaller and smaller, and finally closes producing no new hair.
Hair loss is affected by a variety of factors. Hair loss in men is mostly due to male sex hormones called androgens (dihydrotestosterone). They are important in regulating hair growth and sex drive. When the body becomes increasingly sensitive to androgen, hair fall occurs. This is because, increase in androgen level causes hair follicle to have shorter life cycle of hair growth, produce thinner strands and delay in growth of new hair.
Genetics also play a major part in hair loss. The major gene responsible for hair fall is found in the X-chromosome that is inherited from the mother, but it is not the only factor that affects hair loss. It seen that men whose father are bald becomes more prone and any family history of hair loss (baldness) is a result of your fate. You can’t help it, and after all it is nature.
Artificially there is no way human could interfere in re-growing the hair. The two possible treatment methods which every other Dermatologist (Hair specialist), suggests is Propecia and Rogaine but at your own risk and they rather cause nasty side-effects.
Propecia (finasteride) is a drug administered that prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone and thus reduces the hormone level. It works best initially but eventually fails and often affects your sexual life. Rogaine (minoxidil) helps one to regrow the hair but it has to be continuously taken that and irritates the skin. Often the negatives outweigh the positives.
Hair oil and other oil from herbs extracted are a waste of time as they offer very little effects on the scalp and hair follicle. Advanced technologies like hair transplant and stem cell regeneration of keratinocytes provides solution but very much short-lived with side effects. Once again you got to lose your hair finally.
Many men lose their hair today even in their teens and early 20’s – the reason behind them is psychological stress and environment they live in. Hair fall increases with stress in teenagers and slowly decreases when the person is relieved of stress. Although the pattern of inheritance and factors affecting are still under debating, researchers and doctors have matched the bad health of heart to hair fall. It is studied that men with heart disease, hypertension, stress and cholesterol are linked to premature early hair loss and baldness. So better start to look upon your health if you experience hair loss very early.
It is never too late now. Follow a better life style, quit smoking, follow proper balanced diet and reduce stress through exercises.
